Restaurant Week review: Great Bay
It's been years since Great Bay opened in the Hotel Commonwealth, but I just hadn't made it there yet. Took advantage of Restaurant Week to check it out.
I was surprised at how many couples were at the restaurant, yet seated at tables for 4. There was a lack of "tables for two".
The soft rolls to start with were warm and delicious. Servers were attentive regularly refilling water. We had to tell one gentleman to stop trying to refill our sparkling water with still from his pitcher. That got a little annoying since the sparkler bottle sat very visible on our table.
My husband ordered the clam chowder which was flavorful, but very thin. The mussel appetizer was fantastic with some of the largest mussel's I've ever seen.
We both order the wild mushroom and brioche stuffed chicken which was delicious, but the polenta which it sat upon was a bit thick and resembled mashed potatoes.
The chocolate peanut butter smore was a great ending -- very sweet. And we enjoyed the suggested wine pairings as well.
All in all a good meal, but not great. Glad we finally got around to trying this restaurant.
