Visiting NYC - Need Street Food Recs

I'll be visiting NY in a month or so, and would love to do a Street Food tour. Any recommendations would be great. I am willing to travel to all boroughs for the best and most interesting street foods.

  1. This is a good source for you:

The winner last year, the Hallo Berlin sausage cart, is simply fantastic. Fifth avenue and 53rd or 52nd - somewhere in the low 50s, right in front of the University Club. Get the triple combination sausage plate!

    1. I would recommend the Dosa Man on the southern end of Washington Square Park near the spot where Sullivan Street meets the park (I believe he's won a Vendy award) and just about anything in Chinatown, but especially a little place (it has an interior with a few communal tables, but it's really street food) at the corner of Essex and Grand--can't remember the name.

      1. The Cart at 53rd and 6th - no street food tour would be complete without a visit (for the line and for the taste!). I also recently had Sam's Falafel in Liberty Plaza and thought it was great.

There are a ton of street carts in Chinatown as well.

        1. I'd highly recommend trying Vietnamese sandwiches from a place called "Viet-Nam Banh Mi So 1" on Broome street. Its not street food but enough of a hole-in-the-wall to qualify. The sandwiches are cheap ($3.25) and quite good. Something different too.

          1. These sound great. I can't wait. Thanks!
