Best espresso drinks in Torrance 90503

Here's the situation: I am sitting in my apt in Torrance, 90503. I am very near the intersection of Hawthorne Blvd. and Torrance Blvd. I am feeling very lazy. I want some coffee. I prefer espresso-based drinks over diner-type drip coffee (although if you know of some place that serves really awesome drip coffee, do tell!).

My question is this: does anyone know of any places that serve above-average coffee that are within a 10-minute drive from where I live? Obviously we can rule out Starbucks and Coffee Bean, not for quality reasons but simply because I know where they are and in a pinch will go there.

I feel like I know Torrance pretty well, yet when I scour my brain for places local to me that serve great coffee, I can only think of Catalina Coffee Company, which I still love and treasure. But I'd like to have at least one more go-to place that I can enjoy on my own or share with a visiting friend.

Thanks in advance!

  1. Well, I guess by the non-response that my hunches were indeed right.

    1. I heard there is an Italian market in Torrance, you could try getting true Italian coffee beans or even trying Vietnamese coffee at a Vietnamese restaurant...?

      1. Peet's Coffee and Tea. Redondo Beach or Manhattan Beach

They stress freshness. They roast their coffee right after an order is placed, the stores get weekly shipments of fresh coffee, they use the finest coffee they can find, they grind their espresso right before pulling a shot, they pull their espresso shots right before serving their espresso drinks, their foam is silky and even their drip coffee is fresh.
They have a huge variety of different fresh coffee and tea that you can have made in a french press or teapot or you can buy to take home.

Planet Earth. 509 Pier Ave, Hemosa Beach

They only buy organic or fair trade coffee and chai. I love their Pirates Chai Latte with soy. They also have a lot of vegan-friendly and eco-friendly goodies. It's a fun and friendly shop.
