We are looking for a very lowbrow yet delicious italian place in the Berkeley/Oakland/Albany area. Anybody have a good hole in the wall they'd like to share?

You might try Lo Coco's on Shattuck or their cousins' place LoCoCo's on Piedmont. Personally I don't think either is an exception to the rule that you should never order pasta at a pizzeria.

I think Giovanni's would be exactly the kind of place you're thinking of, if the food were good.

Bucci's is sort of a modern variation on heavy old-school Italian. Good food, unique style.

Lol! That's exactly how I feel about Giovanni's- it would be perfect if the food was good. I'll try Lo Coco's. Is Bucci's that place in Emeryville?
      Thanks for the recs.

        Emeryville, right.

Trattoria La Siciliana is inexpensive, super-informal, and most of the food is good.
