Looking for a restaurant in Prospect Heights - former pharmacy

  • 6

A couple of years ago we ate at an Italian restaurant that was in an old converted pharmacy. I can't remember the name nor can I find anything like that. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Has it gone out of business?

Would love suggestions for a restaurant near Union Temple where we could hold an early dinner for about 20 people. The restaurant I'm trying to find wourld be great but would love to hear other options. Thanks.

  1. Locanda Vini & Olii
129 Gates Ave (Cross Street: Between Cambridge Place and Grand Avenue)

(not in Prospect Heights but close)

As for others, with 20 people for early dinner, you might want to contact Garden Cafe and see if they'll let you takeover the place. Excellent food... recent threads. Convivium isnt really that far from Union Temple (5th Ave, Park Slope) and is a great choice for this #.

    1. Hi -

I think you might be talking about Locanda Vini e Olii. I don't know if it is located in Prospect Heights proper: It is converted pharmacy on Gates Avenue that now serves up Italian fair. The exact address/phone # that I pulled from the internet is 129 Gates Ave/718-622-9202.

      1. That's the place. Thanks.

        1. In addtion to the ones mentioned above, Sorrell could also be good for this kind of event.
Its at Carlton and St. Marks Ave.

          1. As others have said, Locanda Vini & Olii is the place you want.

I second the mention of Convivium Osteria on 5th Ave. They have a private wine cellar that's both beautiful and exactly the right size for 20 people. I held an event there 3 years ago and it was a fantastic time. (You can search the boards for my write-up).

            1. I like the Locanda but I find it a bit crowded and noisy (not sure why - hard surfaces?) - unless they'd close it for your party, or it was really a slow hour you might have a hard time talking.
