Thai House Express. new pork leg dish-yum

Just had a great dish at the Tenderloin branch. It was on the specials board, but looked pretty permanent. Their wonderful pork leg (stew) was served in a noodle soup. The broth was incredibly flavorful, thin rice noodles still toothsome, and the pork was the same as in their now infamous stew, a bit fatty but terrific overall. The waiter said we could get fat or thin noodles.

Also tried the mango sticky rice for the first time, what a dish! I am in love with the little crunchy, mung bean seeds roasted and sprinkled on top.

  1. i've had this a couple times. the best part about this dish are the tiny flecks of pork crackling floating in the broth

    1. yes, sorry for the abbreviation. It is open noon to midnight.

      1. That's a fairly regular special. Great stuff.

        1. I, too, just gave the pork leg soup a try as I've been a fan of the stewed pork leg for a very long time. As for the fattiness of the soup, I was concerned about that prior to ordering (I'm very anti extra fat on my meat): I always order the pork leg ala carte, meat only. They're very accomodating about this. I asked if they could do the same with the soup and, lo and behold, I had one little spec of missed fat in my soup. The rest of the meat was devoid of any extra fat. Quite delicious!

          1. I just had it the other day-- it's excellent, a really homey, comfort-type dish. I actually prefer it far above the stew with rice version. The bits of crackling make the fatty flavor shine through, but the dish overall is lighter due to the broth, and brightness of cilantro and beansprouts. mmm, will definitely have it again next time it rains
