I'll be in NYC next week. I want to try Momofuku Ssam on Monday and am looking for two other lunch recommendations from CityHounds. Any cuisine particularly E/SE/S Asian, anywhere in Manhattan, eating alone, under 35 bucks. I know I'm swallowing an ocean here but would appreciate hearing current faves, both obscure and obvious.

Thanks.

Bao Noodles, on 2nd Av., b/t 22nd & 23rd Sts., is a Vietnamese restaurant. Best on the menu are the noodle soups. *Very* generous portions. Apps I like are the spring rolls and the green papaya salad.

Devi serves sensational Indian cuisine. At lunch, they have a 3-course prix-fixe for $24.07. The selections are taken directly from their regular dinner menu. If your <$35 must include beverage, tax & tip, if you stick with tap water, you will be able to meet that budget.

Tomoe Sushi in the village. They are only open a few hours for lunch (go early bc there's usually a line down the sidewalk) but is regarded as one of the best sushi places in Manhattan and is still somewhat of a secret gem. Definitely get a piece of the Toro if you go.

      Good luck!

Thanks for the tips. All sound great. Any thoughts on the Best Lobster Roll in Downtown debate?

I've never been to Pearl's or Mary's. The one at Tides is very good but not exactly traditional.

Mary's Fish Camp is a must. Best lobster roll (I have been to most of the known places that serve this). Pearl's is solid too as is BLT Fish Shack.

Other lunch recs: Korea Town on 32nd has good Asian food. Republic is also cheap and good, as is Bao Noodles.
