The Bancroft Hotel catering (Berkeley)

I was pleasantly surprised last night.

Lovely evening, and the food was more than adequate.


First course

Mixed greens with pears, gorgonzola and candied pecans

Second course

Pistachio whole grain mustard rubbed lamb with pesto
Couscous, ratatouille vegetables and a pomegranate reduction sauce


Grilled wild salmon with herbs, soft polenta, spinach and vinaigrette


Wild rice, pine nut and feta stuffed portabolinis


Lemon tart


Chocolate truffle cake

(I had lamb and chocolate truffle cake.)

  1. The "portabolinis" should read "portobellinis". Never trust the menu, even when printed on a nice card.

    Of course I had the well-seasoned tiny racks of lamb. The chocolate truffle cake was a dense little wedge, very sweet. (Thank you bitter black coffee.)
