I want to send my in-laws out for dinner and someone recommended this restaurant.. but they haven't been there in over a year.

Can anyone tell me whether it's still a good choice for seafood?

While they normally have other things at Plouf, it's really all about mussels, served about 8 or 9 different ways. If you or you guests don't like those then you may want to look elsewhere.

I secont Monty's opinion. And since a picture is worth a thousand words (but a bucket of mussels is worth infinitely more)...

Note: the bucket is plenty for one person who wants a big lunch. My sister and I shared the bucket and fries, and were sated but comfortable enough to wander elsewhere for dessert. And my sister is a mussel-scarfing growing teen, so...

I was there last week and the mussels were great - I really enjoy pretty much everyting on the menu. Their tuna is not my favorite though... a bit plain. My dad even had the fish and chips a while back and thought it was one of the best he ever had. In addition to the food, the atmoshphere is fantastic and the service is friendly and attentive.

Stay away from the unsatisfying and shriveled "escargot" preparation of mussels. I was a dope to order that.

Had a good meal but a terrible service experience. Had dinner there on a Friday night with 3 friends. After dinner we were still finishing our wine when the host came over asking when would we be leaving as he had a lot of parties waiting. We were a table of 4 women and there was a party of men who had arrived at the same time but interestingly the host wasn't rushing them out the door. The host was French too so he should know better. I won't be returning.

I thought I had heard rumors that the owners might be opening another restaurant. Don't know any details about the restaurant but would love to hear if anyone else has heard anything!

I was there recently, and had a great experience. Their outdoor area is a little crowded/chaotic, but the generally yound crowd there seemed to love it. The food was in general quite good--not just the mussels. The French sommelier waived the corkage for the two bottles we brought after we made a purchase of a relatively expensive bottle of Champagne there.
