Sakura Mochi @ Shuei-Do (San Jose)

muimi07 Mar 1, 2007 04:22 PM

I thought I'd like to give everyone a heads up that the annual limited run of sakura mochi is coming to an end this weekend at Shuei-do in SJ Japantown. I personally always make a pilgrimage each year to get my hands on a box. :) They are selling it Friday (after 12 noon), Saturday and the last day for sakura mochi is Sunday :)

Sakura mochi is pink-tinged glutinous rice wrapped around sweet an. The rice is then wrapped in a salted cherry leaf, thus the "sakura" mochi. Like most wagashi, it's a seasonal treat and in this case, it is traditionally available in the springtime.

Sakura Mochi. Last day to order at Shuei-Do, SJ is Fri 3/4/11. They had 2pk with 6 ea on the counter for sale for those that didn't pre-order.

Sakura Mochi is sticky rice w/ sweet black bean paste inside. The rice is then wrapped around a salty cherry leaf. I liked it ok, finally tried it.

I'm not sure the correct cost I thought they were $1.5 or $1.6 ea.

      CASH ONLY.
