Butterfly, House, or the Slanted Door?

Will be in San Fran for a long weekend in April – these 3 restaurants were recommended. What’s the crowd favorite? Thanks

The House has excellent food. Its a bit small and can be loud but its one of my favorite places. great for lunch too.

The Slanted Door can be a hassle, and it's expensive, but as long as you're ok dealing with those aspects it's usually a great time. It gets dissed here a lot but I remain impressed at how Phan has maintained the quality of the food despite exponential growth, and you can be a Vietnamese expert or total noob, doesn't really matter. Haven't been to the other two places in years.

Well since the only reviews for Butterfly were from 2005, I'll chime in with my recent lunch experience. I have to say my food was really good. I went here for Dine About Town and I have no complaints about the food or service.

Slanted Door gets crowded. If you can get in, that's a good thing.

On this board there is a love/hate thing going on with Slanted Door. I enjoy it for what it is; The House is a very different experience -- neighborhood spot vs. a destination...both have much better than average food.

Based on this post from 2005, it looks like people do not recommend Butterfly.
