Comfort Food in Central County St. Louis

I would love to find a simple restaurant in the Brentwod/Clayton/Richmond Heights/U-City area that serves a few good basic dishes. I'd like something pretty casual (a neighborhood-type place), moderate in price (if two could eat for $30-40, that'd work), but something more than a chain restaurant. Forgive me for being vague, but does anyone have some suggestions?
