"New" Reply Not Disappearing

When I go to "My Chow" and click on threads with "New" replies and read the thread, the "New" icon is not disappearing upon reading the thread when I return to the previous screen.

Is there a problem today with this? It started yesterday.

I too am having problems with the "new" button. Only happened in the last couple of days. Most annoying! Seems every time things "settle down"" along comes a new problem- which seems to bring comments from the staff that it is only happening to certain systems!! That is unbelievable. Why would one system be effected and not others?

Laurie, There's a thread just below yours on this same topic. Also, I described an additional major problem, i.e., threads not moving to the top of the board once you have posted a reply.

The site was just off-line for maintenance, but these problems still persist.

If you click on the oatmeal square, it will be fixed temporarily. Unfortunately, you'll have to do it each time you log on. I hope theyll fix this.

This shouldn't change back whenever you log in. Try removing your Chow.com and Chowhound.com cookies and then re-selecting the oatmeal theme and see if that makes it stick for you.

I deleted the cookies several times, with various ways and means. Hell, I had to LOOK UP how to delete cookies to try and get this to work. And it Hasn't. It is broke. I am frustrated, I have searched and have seen others who are frustrated as well re this topic.

I am sure you all are just as frustrated with us being frustrated, but ya know, you fixed something that wasn't broke (the color theme) and now alot is broke.

Just to clarify, is it your colour scheme that's still broken (that's what the cookies thing was meant to fix) or are you referring to the board indexes not automatically updating when you return to them?

When I made that post, it was both. It would revert back to deleted color scheme and not update indexes. I have since switched to my laptop, which now has the color reset but to update each and every page, I must reclick on color theme. I had to "reset" the color theme three times to see this post and respond

I am having the exact same problem. I only discovered Chowhound a few months ago and everything was going well, but this problem started today.
