casual crab dinner in Mt. Vernon?

My husband and I are in Baltimore for one night and are looking for recommendations for a casual restaurant to try the local crab.

Any suggestions appreciated from this Chicagoan.

No offensive but why would they drive to DC to get lump crab meat when they can get that in Baltimore?

Captain James Landing crab deck doesn't open until the spring and Kellys doesn't do crabs year round.

can't think of one in Mt. Vernon off the top of my head. i'd probably recommend the usual suspects: LP Steamers (Federal Hill); Bo Brooks (on the water near Canton; avoid the food and stick to the crabs); Dockside (not much farther than Bo Brooks); Kelly's. Capt. James Landing between Fells Point and Canton has decent crabs; fairly kitschy.

Local crab isn't in season right now and there aren't any crab houses in Mt. Vernon. If you want to try Maryland style seafood (and a really good crab cake, albeit right now made from crab meat from the gulf), go to Mamas on the Half Shell in Canton:
