Comfort Food in Tribeca

Several weeks ago I read an article in the NY Times about a man who owned at least one if not two West Village restaurants (now closed) who has opened a new restaurant in Tribeca with a female partner. This new place specializes in comfort/classy diner food. The article talked about how the man has salvaged random stuff from the sidewalks of Tribeca and used it to furnish and decorate his new restaurant. I couldn't find the article on the Times' website, and I'm hoping someone here will know the name of the new restaurant. I really want to take a friend there for dinner this week. Thank you so much!!!

  1. You must be referring to The Soda Shop in Tribeca. I believe it is from the guy who owned the Bespeckled Trout on Hudson St in the WV. Much kitsch and brick-a-brack, but also supposedly great egg creams and floats and such. According to the link below they have meals too. And yes, a female partner...that sounds familiar.

    1. The people at the Soda Shop are very nice!! I've been there a few times. The make a pretty good egg cream and their breakfast is really good, but get there early for it as the few tables fill up quickly.
