Thanks for the info. Have you ever eaten at here? Winberie's in Buffalo Grove?
Read on one of the above links that Dover Straight did not sound too good.

Winberie's is a chain (not that chains are necessarily bad IMHO, but some chains are better than others). I've eaten at another location but it was quite a while ago so my opinion is not exactly up to date. If you are interested in perusing their menu, you can find it on their website at www.selectrestaurants.com/cafew

If you're really looking for great steaks, specifically, then you're generally better off going to a place which specializes in steaks, such as Pete Miller's (which I have been to and is excellent) or Tramonto's (which I have not). Two other very nice places in your target area that have excellent steaks (and I have also been to) are Wildfire, which has a location in Lincolnshire ( www.wildfirerestaurant.com ), and Stoney River, which has a location in Deer Park ( www.stoneyriver.com ). All four of these steakhouses also have excellent seafood.

I have been to Dover Straight a couple of times and it was okay, but not as good as the best seafood places in the northern suburbs, such as Mitchell's Fish Market in Glenview. However, I have read similar reports to the ones you mention, that lead me to believe they may have a problem with consistency.
