Giada's New Show, NYC episode. Oy.

Zabar's H&H, River Cafe, Grimaldi's. Jacques Torres was the only highlight, IMO.

These shows play more and more like the magazines in the seatback pocket of an airplane.
Who is the audience for this stuff?

PS: Giada says "Grimaldi's is voted New York City's #1 pizza"? BY WHO?

What on earth was she doing buying two containers of salmon spread for her bagel for anyway? I mean, I guess you assume she was feeding the crew, but still.

And salmon spread? She goes to Zabar's and buys spread? Why not lox or smoked salmon, the real deal? Now that's the "oy vey".

Keep in mind, Giada probably had nothing to do with what establishments would be featured, some FoodTV producer did, and remember FoodTV's goal is to attract the widest audience possible (in order to increase ad revenues), and the largest audience possible is also the lowest common denominator in terms of knowlege and appreciation of food.

      It's just a TV show.

Grimaldi's has been voted #1 in various polls (including Zagat) for years. Though I hear for the last few years, their quality has gone down.

I wouldn't "trust" and Zagat "as far as I could fling it." Many reviews are "just too showy" with "not enough real experience." The "reviewers strike me" as people who have "been there once or twice" and count that as enough exposure to make an "it's fabulous!" edict.
