I've been having a huge craving for laksa. I've tried Shiok! in Menlo Park and the Long Life Noodle Company at the Stanford Shopping Centre, and have been entirely unimpressed by both of them.

Does anyone have a recommendation for where I can find an excellent laksa?

Thanks!

Go to Prima Taste Restaurant, address below. Although Melanie's last report there indicates that she wasn't too impressed. I've never been to the restaurant myself. But if it is really unimpressive, you can minimally purchase the prepackaged Laksa Spice at the restaurant and go home and cook it yourself, I guarantee if the instructions are followed to the dot, you will be impressed.

The mee Siam Spice is not bad too.

Here's a link to a recent post that recommends the Hainan chicken. Gives you at least one good thing to order if the laksa fails again.

I don't know whether it's still on the menu, but Straits
Cafe in SF used to make it. Often it was really, really
good (and "authentic"); occasionally the restaurant
manager would warn us that it just didn't work right and
we shouldn't order it.

Chris Yeo has brought over some real Singapese cooks recently to help in his several restaurants, so it might be worth checking if it's back on the menu.

Straits Cafe is also located in Palo Alto, and now two locations at Santana Row. They have laksa, and it's very good
