Try Java Man on Pier Ave. Up the hill from the plaza at Manhattan Ave on North side of street.

A number of places along the plaza at the pier there, and along Hermosa Ave. The Italy's Little Kitchen (italian restaurant) on the SE corner of Hermosa Ave and Pier is great.

Try the coconut cake. It's $5 a slice, but, my god, it's so worth it. I have a weakness for coconut cake, though.

If you'll be at the beach, try Napoleon's for good coffee and great desserts/pastries. Theyr'e on Pier avenue, right at the beach. Further afield, try Catalina Coffee in Redondo: www.catalinacoffee.com.
