HK - Shenzhen street food recs?

pepper_mil Feb 22, 2007 06:23 PM

Will be in HK/Shenzhen next week for a couple days, for the first time. This is a limited budget trip so I was hoping to score some amazing street food around downtown HK and Lowu area of Shenzhen, or find a good bakery for things like pork buns and egg tarts in the morning. What are the best streets for this and are there any local specialties I should not miss? Am currently living in sichuan and am less interested in things I can already get here. Metro accessible is best. Thanks in advance.

By downtown HK, do you mean Central?

Yes, central area though willing to venture anywhere metro acessible for something unique. Anyone know what is seaonsal there right now?

Best pork bun i have ever had is in Shenzhen at Seaport (海港) restaurant. It is a chain and has a branch in Sunshine (阳光) Hotel. For egg tart, Hawaii in central is quite good.
