IN need of custom made birthday cake

I have to get a cake for my Brother's birthday. He loves the Yankees and I thought I would get a custom made Yankee shirt cake. Who can do this?

Thanks

i'd recommend masturbakers, which operates out of old devil moon on e.12th street. the cake itself is delicious (classic homestyle yellow, chocolate or marble with great buttery frosting), and they can basically do anything you want in terms of shape and decoration.

I don't buy them, but everyone likes the cakes from Costco and Stop and Shop. Many people I know who have kids and live in the city make a trip to either when they need a large cake. They are pretty good if you don't want gourmet.

I agree that the cakes from the supermarkets are actually pretty good, but the problem is if you want a specific design as the original poster does. When I was making my daughther's birthday party, I went to Food Emporium and they don't actually "custom make" the cakes -- you have to choose the design from a book and if it's not in the book, they can't do it.

If you ever get to Baltimore check out Ace of Cakes. They're on the web, look at not so traditional cakes. Amazing!

The name is actually Charm City Cakes. "Ace of Cakes" is the name of the TV show about them.

the cupcake cafe will make custom cakes and of course cupcakes. two locations - the original on West 39th street (9th or 10th ave??) and one in the union square area - 17th street I believe by 5th. great tasting and beautifully designed. . . cash only though (unless this changed recently)

Cupcake Cafe cakes look very nice, but taste terrible, IMO. Would not recommend them.

It depends on your preference - I hate super sweet frostings so I love that cupcake cafe is not too heavy handed with the sugar.

Tribeca Treats, obviously in Tribeca. Rachel, the owner, made and Elmo cake for my daughter's birthday and it was great.
