Holy crap that’s a great burger. I got the fried egg w/leek burger (requested the egg runny and the meat medium rare). I think it might be the best burger in Philly. Juicy egg yolk exploded all over my hand and I chased the whole thing with Magic Hat Circus Boy. Dreamy.

So, for no reason whatsoever, here’s my current list of best burger-experiences, all ordered medium-rare:

-Loie’s fried egg w/leek
-Good Dog Roquefort-filled burger
-Royal Tavern w/bacon (I should add that I think this has the best ground beef, though not the best overall burger experience)
-Rouge (oh Alan Richman, you’re barely in the top five with your pick)
-Standard Tap w/bacon

I have not had the Monk’s burger as I have a hard time wandering away from sausage when on the menu.

I will have to try this. We ate at Monk's last week and I must say I couldn't see what all the fuss was about. Just an average burger, IMHO. Not particularly juicy or flavorful, and there was so much bread it overpowered the burger.
