where can I find canned pitted tart pie cherries in water?

I am making a Black Forest cake, and the recipe calls for canned pitted tart pie cherries in water. Fresh Direct doesn't have them, and the best I can find at the Food Emporium near me is canned cherry pie filling. Any ideas? Frozen? Or any stores that would carry them?

  1. Williams & Sonoma used to carry some great tart cherries -- no syrup or sugar. I think "America" was somewhere in the brand name. Don't know if they still carry them -- and they were kind of expensive. (I used them in a deep-dish apple-cherry pie. I have also used a can of unsweetened cherries that I bought at Whole Foods -- fine, but not as good.)

    1. whole foods has cherries that are in a real light syrup - almost water. i bet those would work.
