Birthday Brunch in SF - Please Weigh In!

pirog Feb 21, 2007 08:19 PM

Group of ladies in their 20s are trying to pick a fun, tasty place for weekend brunch. The contenders are:

-Slow Club
-2223 Restaurant
-Universal Cafe

Which one should we choose??

Wow, you named three of my favorite brunch spots! I'd lean towards 2223 because they take reservations.

I 've only had dinner at 2223 Restaurant (aka No Name )

I love the Universal Cafe food, they use fresh organic ingredients and I think the atmosphere is the best. Also, where else can you have a fresh pomegranate bellini! So that would be my choice.

Slow Club has more variety on their menu... although every time I go there I order the burger- one of the best burgers in the city. I just find it a bit dark for brunch.

How big is your group? I think 2223 can accommodate any size and has a nice brunch. Universal Cafe would provide a more funky and fun mood to the meal but can't really accommodate larger groups.

There are 4 of us, and thanks so much for your feedback!

If it's just four, my vote would be Universal Cafe before 2223. Both are good, but Universal, I think, is a bit more innovative in the dishes.

we ended up going to Universal Cafe and the brunch was fantastic! I highly recommend it. There was about a 30 min. wait at 9 am though, but well worth it.
