Queen & Broadview Openings

As I was stuck in a streetcar timewarp at the corner of Queen & Broadview for 45 minutes tonight, I had plenty of time to notice that 3 new places are opening within the block west of Broadview: The Booze Emporium (, Soma Restaurant & Lounge and The Burger Shoppe. The signs for the Booze Emporium started out interesting, then became...I don't know, but an odd combination of gastropub, piano bar, oyster bar (from Rodney's), then pool table, trivia games, poker, sporting events, etc. I don't know a thing about any of them, just thought I'd pass it along.

  1. Wow, I live right around the corner (and drive west along Queen past Broadview every day) and hadn't noticed any of these places... I'm guessing they are all on the north side of Queen?

Out of those I think The Burger Shoppe sounds the most interesting, will have to stop by and check them out... thanks for the heads up.

    1. The Booze Emporium is two doors west of Jilly's and the Burger Shoppe is just a little further west. Soma is on the south side beside the convenience store - I think it was some kind of martial arts place before?

      1. and there is that new coffee place/cafe open near food savy and riverside books called comrade that looks SO awesome. They do desserts, coffees, desserts and it looks like nice paninis as well. It's so splashy inside I wonder if they'll eventually get a liquor license. Anyone been there yet?

        1. Comrade now has a liquor license and opens at 5 for cocktails, Soma looks interesting kida like a conran lounge resaurant, booze emporium now has prohibiotion accross their name ( guess the licensing people weren't amused---looks kinda scarey anyway. Burger Shoppe is awsome, though waits can be long, Dark Horse is best espresso in the neighbourhood and one of 2 or 3 best in the city. Another new one is Citizen. Finally after close to 20 years in the area I'm overwhelmed with choice ( Guess we must be one of the next trendy areas with dundas and ossington where tom thai just opened his new restaurant to good reviews)

          1. If you're ever stuck in the Broadview Village you have to hit Dangerous Dan's Diner...home of the "24oz Bulls Balls Burger" & Quadruple C
            "Collosal Colon Clogger Combo"
