  1. Harlem is a large neighborhood, with many varied restaurants. If you want advice, it would help if you narrowed down your request by including area, cuisine, price your are looking for.

    1. Ms. Maude's Spoonbread 212/690-3100; 547 Lenox Avenue (near 137th Street) has great fried chicken and smothered chicken. Pretty good shortribs. They also have a restaurant at 110th near Columbus if you are near Columbia.

      1. There are several Harlem threads already floating around but chowhounds will be more than happy to help you find what you are looking for if you can offer some direction. Are you looking for the authentic Harlem experience, a touristy experience, a certain ambiance, a sophicated spot or just good food? Do you want soul food, African food or spanish food? Is there an area of Harlem you are targeting? It is a big neighborhood. Have you heard of some restaurants and want feedback?
