Best Burger/Fries on the Cape and South Shore?

I have been living on the Cape since this past June and I have yet to find a great burger/fries combo. I am hoping you guys can help me since I love independent fast food and diner-style eateries. I won't lay out what I have tried since I want unbiased opinions.

OK, this thread is still languishing but I think it is time for another go since it is the height of the tourist season around here. What are your recent faves?

Have you tried Betsy's Diner in Falmouth? I haven't had the burger/fries combo, but it's certainly the type of setting you're looking for.

I have been there many a time. I like it but it is relatively mediocre overall in the sense that nothing there rises above good. The thing that really drags this place down, in my opinion, is that two of the main diner staples are not very good, specifically the coffee and the fries.

I figure this is worth bumping again since there is a clear paucity of replies so far.

Try Arnold's on Route 6 in Eastham for a great burger and fries. I'm not sure if they are open year round. During the summer there is a line out the door and the parking lot is packed.

The burgers at the Spiced Pear in Newport are outstanding. Pricey, but truly excellent. In fact, it made GQ's list (as #3) in the Top 20 burgers anywhere.

BTW, I'm eating my way through that list fairly rapidly.

Interestingly, I have to agree with Jerry Saywell having just eaten at the British Beer Company in Falmouth on Friday. I had a burger with tomato, bacon, and carmelized onions. It was delicious. However, the fries were not really to my liking, too large for my taste. In addition, does anyone really need fries and chips with a meal? Seems like overkill and for my stomach and palate it was.

I've always enjoyed the burger/fries combination at the British Beer Company on Main Street in Hyannis. They actually know how to cook a rare burger!!

Burton's -- a steakhouse == at the Derby Street, Hingham shopping center. The place is upscale at night and the burger is about $10, but outstanding. A real treat.
