Howling Bastard

abu applesauce Feb 21, 2007 06:38 AM

I had a howling bastard the other day (on tap) in a NY bar (Watefront Ale House) and enjoyed it very much. Anyone know who makes this delicious brew?

Looks like it's an American Barleywine made by Blue Point Brewing Company:

    Cheers!

Funny, I googled it and found website, the brewery is in Long Island--I work in Long Island. They have happy hours, I like happy hour, especially at breweries.....

Yeah- the OHB is good stuff. It is one of the few (only?) beers that Mark bottles on premesis- the others are contracted out while the Long Island brewery is usually just used for their draft operation (not that there's anything wrong with that...). I'm pretty sure it's unfiltered as well, so the bottle is pretty darn close to the draft product.

Oh- and the on-site growlers are also filled with their draft beer. I think you'll enjoy a trip to the brewery and come away with something nice. My brother lives 10 minutes away and always has growlers at his house whenever I'm there- I love that oatmeal stout...
