Okay we've seen this topic before and from I understand the Harlem Rugelach man makes the best rugelach in the city believe it or not. Fresh daily...just place your order in advance.

Not necessary if you're getting a dozen (though he often looks anxious if I ask for that many, as though he fears he doesn't have enough). May be necessary to preorder if you're getting more than that. Weighty, vanilla-y, buttery greatness.

btw, I presume you're talking about Lee Lee's. 118th St and Frederick Douglass.

I really liked the chocolate rugelah at 2nd ave deli--they were not heavy and quite delicious and chocolatey--anything similar available out there???

Zabar's own excellent chocolate and cinnamon rugelach are sold at the bread counter - not pre-bagged; we always buy these and go home happy (because we always buy extras to eat on the way).

The rugelach in bags at Zabar's are marvelous but sometimes they're not the freshest.

I had some that I liked from a bakery inside the Chelsea Market. Not Amy's, not the fancy cookie place, and not Fat Witch. The other one.

Yeah that sounds right. They have several kinds: traditional, apricot, raspberry, cinnamon, chocolate. All pretty good and they were very fresh when I bought them (last Sunday).

I'm like a freakin undertaker with all the recent closings and imminent closings but I hate to say that I think gertel's is sadly gone too.

the bagged and behind the counter stuff (chocolate, raspberrry etc.) at zabars is very good.

I am not a rugelach expert but I sincerely enjoy the (Not) Just Rugelach specimens, which I get from the Bowling Green/Whitehall farmer's market.

Oh dear, I must confess. I don't like rugelach but I pick it up for my family when I see it. ( I try to taste everything at R&D).

I love the rugelah from William Greenberg, expensive but so good!

High praise given by others (not my favorite) to Russ & Daughters, Agata & Valentina, Zabars.
