Yet another private room/restaurant rental question

miriamo Feb 19, 2007 07:52 PM

I've hunted through the archives, to not much avail. What I'm looking for: a party of 40-45 needs to get either a private room or a whole restaurant. Italian would probably be best, as we have people from all over the country including vegetarians, picky children, etc. Would like to keep the food cost around $25/person (open to doing either a set menu or *shudder* a buffet) but we'd also be buying a lot of wine/beer. Anywhere in manhattan is fine, though the west side is more convenient. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Cascina, on 9th Av., b/t 45th & 46th Sts., would be my pick. Delicious Italian food. Excellent wine list. (Don't know about beer.) Nice, rustic ambiance. Moderate prices. They do private parties. Note: They serve pizzas, which would probably please the kids, and even the adults.

DEKK in Tribeca. They have a big private room. Food is good and it's not too expensive.

thanks both - i've been there a couple times and enjoyed it. any other suggestions? everyone who's coming is from morningside heights or chelsea, so HK, chelsea, uptown are all easy options too...

Ditto Arte Cafe. They have a nice private room and they can work with you on costs and menu. Did a nice and reasonably priced bridal shower there a few years ago.
