Kataifi dough in Manhattan?

asdfhjkl1 Feb 19, 2007 05:08 AM

Does anyone know what supermarket or store carries kataifi dough? It is also called Kadaif someplaces, but basically I mean the Greek/Arab pastry dough that looks like shredded wheat. I want to make knafe- pastry made from the dough with sweet cheese inside, but I don't know where to find the dough. If someone knew where to buy knafe already made- I would like to know that as well. Thanks-

Try Sahadi (in Brooklyn on Atlantic Avenue but very close to Manhattan) or Damascus Bakery - or some of the other stores on Atlantic Avenue or, if you are feeling like going deep into the heart of Brooklyn (it is very safe) - try Mansour's on Avenue S (I think) - or there are also many shops on Coney Island Avenue around Glenwood Road in either direction
