Sausage in Des Moines [Moved from Midwest]
It's been 20 years since I moved from Des Moines, but the last time I was there, I had an excellent baked sausage ziti. The sausage was to die for reminding me how good the Italian food on the southside is. They told me where they got their sausage, but I cannot remember who made it. My Father cannot remember either. .
I am sure someone here knows the company's name. Do they have a web site? The next question is do they ship? I am in Phoenix now and want to have some sent to me. On a side note, I found out that Happy Joe's ships those incredible taco pizzas so I am looking to have an Iowa night at my place and want to add this sausage to the menu....There's a TON of Hawkeye transplants down here.
Now, if I could only get Maid Rites sent to me.....

How about adding some Maytag Blue Cheese, Sterzing Potato Chips and Bing Candy Bars? And maybe some Maid-Rites. Davidd has a terrific tenderloin site if you want to get ambitious and then there's the school lunch pizza recipe from Sioux Valley schools. Could be blast.

The Sausage was no doubt Graziano's. If I ever moved away from here, it is the one thing I would make sure I set someone up to send me.
I will tell you that it suffers from the same thing all pork suffers from. The fat was bred out of it. Use to be you would fry it up and have a cup of grease in the skillet. Now, maybe a Tbls. I actually add a little olive oil to the pan. Nevertheless, it is still far superior to anything else.
I'll check on shipping.›1 Reply
