upscale food stores in Murray Hill?

Has anyone heard any rumors about the coming of an upscale food store to Murray Hill--a Dean and De Luca, Whole Foods, or Garden of Eden, for example?

The neighborhood, which has been attracting lots of well off 30-somethings, sorely lacks such an amenity. Todaro's doesn't really do it and Grand Central Market is a bit far.

I haven't but I feel your pain! I live in the area.

Ever since Garden of Eden was forced to close its location on 3rd, b/t 23rd & 24th, everyone has been hoping they would re-open elsewhere in the vicinity. Unfortunately, it does not look as though that will be happening in the near future, if at all. :-(

For a brief amount of time about a year and a half ago, there was a sign in the empty store at 22nd and 2nd that the fish store nextdoor, Gramercy Fish Market, was going to open an upscale market/larger fish store with fresh produce and prepared meals. Unfortunately, shortly after the sign went up, it came back down and the space has sat vacant and unrenovated since then. No idea what is planned for that space now but one can always hope.

It's not quite in the area, but there is a new market that just opened on 1st Avenue and 19th Street, Gracefully. I went the other day and they have a fantastic selection of gourmet and international foods.

I went there the other day as well. Very nice selecion of fresh vegatables and some pf their prepared foods look good as well. They also have a good selection of beers like the delerium's and such--a little pricey though,
