Comfort in Richmond, VA
I'll be in Richmond for a couple of days visiting some museums. I'll be staying over one night so have one dinner (a Thursday night). I'm taking the train down so won't have a car. The menu for Comfort looks great so I thought I would head there. Any thoughts or recommendations for what to get would be welcome. Thanks in advance.

I concur with the catfish recommendation and hubby gets the roasted chicken most of the time. The veggie plate (4 or 5 sides) is a great meal also if you're more in the mood for the sides than an entree. If they have the shrimp and grits appetizer, that is good as well as the fried green tomatoes. The soup of the day is usually good also. The mac & cheese, squash casserole and braised greens (be sure to throw some pepper vinegar on the greens) are all terrific. My husband swears by their scalloped potatoes also and the fried okra. Save room for dessert.....the banana pudding creme brulee should not be missed. Also, you can eat at the bar if you don't want to wait for a table. Also, one of the most reasonably priced and well balanced wine lists in town.

Get there early or expect to wait. Thursday may not be so bad but I'd certainly get there before 6:30. My favorite entrees are the fried catfish, meatloaf, roast chicken, and skate (if they have it). Of the sides I like the mac and cheese, squash cassarole, braised greens, creamed spinach, and the cheese grits. Also the fried green tomatoes are great. And for a real taste of Richmond order a limeade. Enjoy!
