Lunch Upper East Side (near 53th)

One-day trip to NYC around 53rd and Lex. Looking for a special lunch -- perhaps prix fixe Eat anything except steak! Would Aquavit be a good pick?

    Dos Caminos (Mexican) is nearby at 50th and 3rd.

      Let me add -- I need to function for an afternoon meeting -- Mexican a bit too heavy!

        You can have Mexican that is (1) not Tex/Mex and (2) not heavy. Pampano, on 49th, b/t 2nd & 3rd, serves delicious modern Mexican cuisine with an emphasis on fish and seafood. The offer a 3-course lunch prix-fixe for $25. Very nice atmospherics.

        Montparnasse, on 51st, b/t 2nd & 3rd, is pleasant French bistro with good food. They have a 3-course "Business Lunch" for $19.95.
