Visiting from PDX, Silver Lake recs
Hi,
I am visiting from Portland, Oregon, but grew up here. I haven't been back in awhile. Good friend moved to Silver Lake area. Any recommendations for a Sun night hip, good, trendy place for us in Silver Lake to chow at or nearby?

Thanks everyone! Cliff's was closed on Sun, so we went to Canele and enjoyed it. The food was good - Northwestern even in flair to some degree and wine bottles good and reasonably priced. We got lost driving and passed every restaurant recommendation on this list so all are in the back pocket of my PDX-transplant friend. Cheers!

Cliff's edge has a really fun ambience- decent food, good drinks..if you can sit outside it would be a great choice.
Malo is fun, hip trendy. Yummy chips and salsa flight.
I like Cobras and Matadors on Hollywood- took friends from Portland here and they loved it. (I guess there was a Cobras and Matadors in the Pearl district for a brief time..)
For drinks after dinner, you could head around the corner to Vermont (though not sure what it will be like on a Sunday- but given the holiday, may have a fun crowd..)
Drinks at the Dresden room for classic old school Los Angeles experience.. -
I second the Canele suggestion. Cliff's Edge is a great environment, but you might get sprinkled on tonight if you're outside--and outside is the only way to go at that place. Also check out Pho Cafe at Sunset and Parkman (there's no sign, but it's in the same strip mall as Rambutan Thai).

For hip atmosphere and good food I would try Gingergrass on Glendale Blvd.

The Kitchen has excellent food, a little low on the "hip" factor
