LES/Gramercy Italian

  • 8

Cacio e Pepe is booked. Does anyone have any suggestions on a similar restaurant or know a good, inexpensive Italian restaurant for 5 girls?

Thanks so much!

  1. have you eaten at little giant on the les. it's creative american. a very cozy space with high flavor and professional service.

    1. Novita on 22nd st is great.

      1. I have to say we were underwhelmed with the food at Novita the one time we had dinner there. And it is not inexpensive.

Campanile, on 29th St., b/t Park Av. S. & Madision, is an under-the-radar neighborhood Italian. The traditional food served there is well-prepared and delicious. It's a fairly large space with a bar in front where locals gather to chat. The dining room has attractive decor and comfortable seating. Prices are quite reasonable.

        1. What about Via Emilia?

          1. agree, via emilia is quite good but bring cash, no credit cards are taken.

Also, Via Emilia does not take reservations. However, there is a waiting area with a few seats in front, as well as a bar with seats. (Note: These are positive improvements from the old location, which had neither.)

            2. Lamarca , NW corner of 22nd. st. and 3rd. ave. Monday through Friday only and cash only but quite inexpensive. Give it a try.

              1. For inexpensive Italian, I'd go for Bianca's, Max's and Azzensio. The last one accepts reservations the 1st two doesn't and maybe both cash only. But, food is good and inexpensive at both places.
