Kerala Crab Curry??

Whenever I go to NYC, I eat at Baluchi's on the Upper East side and have their Kerala Boatman's Crab Curry. At 2 for the price of 1 for lunch time, it is a virtual steal and a mighty tasty one at that. Is there any place in L.A. where I can get something similar to this? I am due for a trip out to NYC, if not just to sample this delicious dish, but it sure would be nice to be able to get a comparable fix on this coast instead.

Not quite the same, but the special crab at Macau Street on Garvey between Atlantic and Garfield is a similarly value-priced steal of a meal. If you find quality Goan-style lobster on this coast please let me know ;-)

What is Kerala Crab Curry?

Not to sound facetious, but it's exactly what it sounds like: a crab curry cooked in the style of the southwestern coastal state of Kerala in India. It has very complex flavors and spices, like most well-prepared Indian dishes seem to have IMHO. I have no idea if the boatmen actually eat this in Kerala, as I know that Chinese people don't really eat fortune cookies, but that's what it reads on the Baluchi's menu.
