Karma Indian Food - Valencia

lvgoodfood Feb 16, 2007 06:11 AM

We tried Karma, a new Indian restaurant, on Cinema Drive, they have a very nice lunch buffet for around 9.00. Their Naan bread is freshly made to order and it is included with the buffet. We have been there a few times since they open, service can be slow sometimes, but overall is good food at a very resonable price. If you like Indian food you might want to try it.

I also have gone multiple times for both the lunch buffet and the dinner. Lunch is now $8.99 from $10 because their nearby rivals who have been there for much longer (Tandoori Grill) has recently started their own lunch buffet $7.99 + soda. Overall the food and service is much better at Karma, as well as the ambiance.

One thing to worry about the lunch buffet is that they only have gulab jamun on certain days so if you're looking forward to that you should call in and see which days have it.

Dinner is suprisingly expensive, where everything comes a la carte. Plus their desserts are really expensive. 2 gulab jamuns for $3.95?! I mean come on...

My views... lunch awesome, dinner pass!

So, um, just what is gulab jamun and is it something that I'm going to regret having not had in my life up until this point?

Gulab jamun is this doughy doughnut ball fried and then soaked in a sugary liquid and served cold, wet, and utterly delicious.

Yep, I'm now officially regretting not knowing this information. Thank you.
