Royale on Wilshire?

Hey everyone, I'm having a birthday dinner this Sunday with about 13 people. I'm trying to think of a cool place to go...I heard about the Royale on Wilshire. What do you think of this place? Would it be too loud for 13 people? Any other suggestions? Here's some criteria:
About $30 per person more or less
Would be great to get a round table or at least a quiet place we could all hear each other (maybe impossible)
There will be one child--2 years old
Pretty much Central L.A.--I'd prefer NOT to go to the beaches, Silverlake or the valley...but would consider the Valley.

Thanks everyone in advance--i'm having a really hard time deciding!

  1. I just went to Royale on Wilshire and loved it.
However, I don't know about $30 per person. If everyone stuck to an entree with no drinks, you might be able to do it. Or drinks and lots of appetizers. But it would be tight.

I went on a weeknight, and it was fine soundwise but don't know what it would be like on a Sunday. In the dining room there are bigger tables. There are also big square coffee-table height tables, surrounded by sofas on all 4 sides. This could probably hold 20 people so if you were doing drinks & appetizers, you might be able to reserve one of those areas. Don't remember if they had round tables.

    Hope this helps a little!
