Asiakan--UWS

I recently tried takeout at the new "pan asian" restaurant, Asiakan at Amsterdam and 94 Street. It has sushi, Thai (quite a few), Indonesian, Malaysian and Vietnamese dishes. What I had (Thai and Sushi) seemed fairly good and reasonably priced. Has anyone been at the restaurant or taken out and what do you think of the new addition to the neighborhood?

This is my new favorite restaurant!

After walking by this restaurant a million times, I finally ate here last night.
WOW, the food was terrific; Great service, Beautiful well-appointed thoughtful interior with stone walls and dark wood tables. Very inexpensive prices for good quality food and environment.
All this on a crummy part of Amsterdam Ave near 94th Street.

We ate the crispy soft shell crab starter (perfectly juicy, crisp and delicious), duck spring roll (very good and stuffed with tender duck and shiitake mushrooms), sate beef platter was excellent and tender, and the Pad Thai was not overly sweet and suprising that it came with huge shrimps that were perfectly grilled.
This was truly amazingly good food for very inexpensive prices.

I live up the block and I am going back for more this weekend that is how good it was!

Went with a friend, sat at the sushi bar. I had grilled sea bass ($20) which was quite good and came with very nicely done vegetables on the side. Friend had sashimi deluxe which was, by Upper West Side standards, quite good, but that's really not saying much since the sashimi/sushi scene on the UWS is dismal. Overall, I liked the place and would/will go again.

I now have taken out from Asiakan numerous times and have found the food good and a very good value. I think the sushi is particularly good/fresh. I still have not eaten at the restaurant. Any other experiences?

I ordered from here a few nights ago.. I had the tom yum soup which was a pretty good version.. We also ordered some sushi.. I felt the sushi was nothing special.. Had a couple of the rolls which seemed interesting on paper but, were not exciting.. I would give the cooked food a shot before I gave up on the place..

I just tried it a few days ago for takeout and it was delicious; I also passed by the restaurant and it's beautiful inside. Nice decor. I would definitely try to eat out at the restaurant or at the very least order from them again.
