Birthday dinner in San Francisco

I'm trying to figure out where to go for my birthday dinner, on a Friday night, in March. I'm testing out Chaya this weekend for my best friend's birthday, so someplace other than Chaya. I love sushi, steak and seafood. Any place that also has great drinks is a plus. I think there will be about six of us, so I'd like a fun, upbeat atmosphere that will still allow for us to have dinner coversation.

Any suggestions?

Deep sushi on outer Church is great - fun and yummy. Extensive sake menu. Small place though, so make a reservation.

I'd also add Alembic, which is new since that thread. Small place though - I'd say 6 is the max there.
