Al Gelato - Red Velvet Cake

Has anyone tried the red velvet cake at Al Gelato? Any comments?

  1. Don’t like it, tried it a few days ago and it is at best mediocre. Let’s face it, Al Gelato is where you should go for Gelato, not cake. We went there the other night and all of a sudden my friend decided to eat dinner, the food was again, at best mediocre. Gelato only and it is good :)

agreed...not much worth your money other than the gelato.

but the cappucino gelato is like crack. in a good way.

Went to Al Gelato on someone's recommendation that they have the best lemon meringue pie ever. Wrong! It was like glue! But they do have great gelato. The Apple Ice and Coffee Chip are scrumptious.

      2. I disagree, I really like their home made soups and their pizza is very good. We have had great lunch there. And very good apple pie with caramel sauce!

I also love their tuna fish and that crusty bread... YUM!!

        2. are you serious? i am absolutely IN LOVE with their tomato sauce. their pastas are simple- rigatoni, sauce, and a side of meatball, but it's my favorite pasta outside of italy.

in fact, i once met at italian girl who said that she had tried every italian restaurant in los angeles for authentic "home style" italian food and said al gelato was the only place she found.

i can't speak for the pizza, however. and ironically, i'm not a huge fan of their gelato either.

          1. Haven't tried red velvet gelato, but had red velvet cake icecream at Scoops and I thought it was pretty good.

            1. If you want the BEST red velvet cake, go to Doughboys... it's da BOMB!!!!

Doughboy's has the BEST red velvet cake I've ever had in my life! Granted, it's the only red velvet cake I've ever had in my life, but it was the best nonetheless.

Heh, I've excluded myself from the red velvet cake discussions because Doughboys has been my only experience as well. But I did see RVC at Al Gelato last time I was there. Can't speak for the dinner, but the pizza looked pretty good. Again, I'm there for gelato. I always order coffee crunch with a taste of cappucino.
