Recommendations for Waikoloa or Kona

My family will be heading to the Big Island for several days. Any suggestions will be GREATLY appreciated. We have already made reservations for Canoehouse and Roy's. Any suggestions for a great authentic Hawaiian restaurant? Lu'au? or any other fabulous restaurants? Please share your previous experience with my family...THANK YOU!

    Keithlca,

Here is another link, though not the original trip report: http://www.chowhound.com/topics/25936.... This from the Search of Chowhound, so you will have to choose the first article, as I have already posted the direct link to the second. More to come, when I find it.

Thank you to everyone for their suggestions. Here are some of the restaurants that we visited. I hope it can help someone on their next trip to The Big Island

Daniel Thiebaut: Wow! Simply great food.
Canoe House: Great view, average food, and overpriced.
Roy's Waikoloa: Good food -- just like other Roy's.
Jackie Rey's Ohana Grill: Good food, interesting decor.
Waikoloa Marriott Royal Luau: Great show, bad food.
      Merriman's Market Cafe: Very forgettable.

Might want to have a look at this discussion: http://www.chowhound.com/topics/346271. I'm looking for the URL from my Kona-side trip report of ~ 18 mos. ago and will post it, when I find it. Seems that with the last two iterations of the Chowhound site, the Search facility doesn't turn up posts quite so well. Maybe I just need to go back and take Boolean 101 again.
