Hi everyone, we are staying at the Springhill Suites in Old Montreal in mid-May and would welcome any dinner suggestions that are walking distance and somewhat reasonable in pricing. Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Merci!

    Howdy!

You're pretty much in the heart of Old Montreal. If you do a search of this board for "Old Montreal" you'll get about 355 or so suggestions. For what it is worth right now my favorite is Aszu.

My favourite is Chez L'Epicier. If you go try the club sandwich for dessert. We checked out Version Laurence Gadbout (same owner) when it first opened and had probably our worst ever dining out experience due to unbelievably poor service. Quite embarassing as we were entertaining US friends. A little pricier is Verses (can get mixed reviews but I liked it). Also pricey but great food and authentic old montreal ambience is Da Emma ( Italian, known for its veal ) Great lunch spot just beyond the western tip of Old Montreal is Cluny's Art Bar. Well worth checking out, casual and easily accesssible from the bike path.

First off, you picked a great hotel. I have stayed there in the past. Here are my suggestions:
      1. Bonaparte. Great French food. With wine, cost me about 140 Cdn, which is reasonable for French.

      2. Restaurant du Vieux Port. Continental fare. Great food, great prices. Nice atmosphere too.

      3. If you are in the mood for sushi, Tokyo Sushi on St-Paul is terrific.
      4. Steak-Frites. On St-Paul Street. Reasonably priced steaks.
