Looking for kaffir lime

Hi everyone,

Anyone have any suggestions of where I can find kaffir lime leaves in Austin? I've hit the obvious (to me) places--MT and Hong Kong markets, MGM on Burnet, and no luck.

Thanks,

Scott

Fiesta almost always has them as well. Go to the far wall of the produce section, just left of where they keep the bagged salad. That's where they have small baskets filled with tons of different exotic produce.

And for twice the price, I definitely saw them at Central Market.

I've got them at MT and Hong Kong, but they don't always have them. When you find some, buy lots and freeze them. Works fine.

The Thai guy at Say Hi usually has them. N. Loop and Burnet. He's a character.

I bought a farily large thai lime plant about 8 years ago and it provided me with all the leaves I needed until last year (I let it freeze). I'm nursing it back. Much cheaper than central market if you use them a lot.

Hong Kong market on Research also usually has them...
but as rudeboy was allowed to mention and I can't seem to pass the censors, a number of local nurseries carry the plants including the one on Manchaca that also has many other SE Asian herbs...my pal Mick who writes for that alt. weekly paper and also for Madam Mam's sometimes gives SE herb usage workshops there...

Dick at Little Thailand in Garfield will sell you a kaffir lime plant in a pot to take home with you after your repast.

Try Central Market as well. I have bought mine there before.

I've seen them in the Asia Market (Asia Cafe is located in the back of the store). The contact info is 8650 Spicewood Springs Rd. #115, it is a stripcenter at the corner of 183 adn Spicewood Springs
