Does anyone know a place that makes vegetarian (not vegan; ie they use cheese but not beef stock?) french onion soup? I had it years ago in California and since then it has become my vegetarian holy grail.
i second the trader joe's post. They're really easy to prepare as well.
NYT mag just ran recipe yesterday for one w/just bread, butter, onions, cheese, tomato puree, salt and water. Looks a bit complicated though. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/02/11/mag...
This isn't exactly a restaurant, but the Trader Joe's frozen french onion soups are both vegetarian and really tasty.
