We went to Tango Grill for the first time last night and I can say with absolute certainty that we won't go back. While the food was good, but not excellent given their prices, the service we were given was some of the worst in my life. Our waiter was seemingly aggravated by our presence and treated us as though we'd ordered two bowls of soup and tap water. After taking our first drink order and then our dinner order, he never returned other than to do a table drive-by, asking a question that only required a "yes" answer and not waiting around for our answer. It was our anniversary and my husband and I were planning on ordering a bottle of wine, but we were never asked, nor were we even asked if we wanted 2nd drinks. The waiter was downright brusque and demeaning.
As for the food, considering the prices it was just okay. We had the parrallida dish - 85 for two people - which certainly was plenty of food. We had two sides, the fried yuca, which was dry and the tango grill sauce that came with it overpowering. The garlic mashed potatoes were very good.

Tango grill is not worth my money. It serves a pretty good steak though. The food is boring and very appropriated. Just because they have chimichurri steak and empanadas it is authentic Argentine cuisine??? Well the thing is its more Italian than argentine. It is an expensive Italian place with argentine steak dishes and a couple of other argentine touches. In fact, some of what are supposed to be argentine dishes are dishes from further up north. I lived in Argentina and plantains and bbq ribs are rarely found. I personally am not thrilled by paying lots of money for a good steak at a restaurant like tango grill when I can just go to a good butcher and get the same steak for half the price. If it had more interesting dishes, I would say Tango grill is worth it but nothing about it stands out. There are a couple of good Argentine places in queens and pampa in upper west side if what you are looking for is a nice ARgentina restaurant. Pampa is very good deal but cash only.

After lunch there today I would say yes, it is worth the price. It comes down to your frame of comparison, as the menu is so varied. I do not find it excessive in price as relates to other steakhouses in the area. And if you enjoy skirt steak; hanger steak; or broiled short ribs they can be had at a relatively reasonable price for a beef fix. The Italian side of the menu is costly by comparison to other Italian restaurants, but is also of excellent quality. The service is first rate, they know how to mix a drink very well, and while it can add up I have never left feeling cheated.

I am one that would disagree with dolores. I went to Blue Hill as a guest, so I wasn't paying. The group that I was with all had the Farmer's Tasting menu and everything was amazingly fresh, creative and delicious.
That being said, I have been to Tango a couple of times and really like it. The seafood is the best bet. I don't eat beef, but my friends said their Argentinian Beef was great.
Do be careful of the bottled water. We were refilled again and again without being asked, and not really paying attention. When the check came, we were charged for 6 bottles of sparkling water! Kinda sneeky I think, but other than that the food and service were great. -
