La Bonne Soupe great! Thanks, RGR!

Went to La Bonne Soup on 55th Street last night and, although they would not take a reservation for 2, the owner said it would be a 10-15 minute wait and he was right on the money! French Onion Soup was awesome as was the steak/frites. Although frozen shoestring-type fries, they were crispy. (Guess I was missing my Montreal frites.) The steak was cooked to perfection -- medium rare towards rare -- as ordered. With holdover time, some restaurants just can't seem to get that right, but La Boone Soupe had no problem. We sat upstairs and snagged a window seat so we could people watch. I can't say enough about the staff. Service at its best. Very accomodating. Didn't stay for dessert as we had to make Radio City by 8 pm (a short walk), but next time!!
Thanks RGR -- another winner!

shopgirl, Thanks so much for reporting back. Always interested to hear what happens after making a suggestion, and it's particularly gratifying when it's a winner. :-)

I've been going for years but have never been patient enough to pin down an upstairs window seat. Lucky you!

I'm looking for a pre-theater (Studio 54 "The Apple Tree") place and thought about going here. Do they take reservations for 4 people?

esyle, this was a saturday night. I overheard people saying that they DO take reservations after 8 pm. I'm guessing their theory is to get the people out who need to make an 8 p.m. show, then things can relax a bit. Give them a call and find out. Enjoy!
AKR -- the window seat was totally by chance! Lucky is right!!
