$25,000 dinner served in thailand?!

anybody else read about this obscene $25,000 meal in thailand? i wonder who the chefs and diners were.

    WOW!! Sounds like an awesome evening! Talk negative all you want, some of the proceeds did go to charity... and the quality of the ingredients should make ANY ChowHound automatically drool. Thanks for the link, rameniac.

      They could have had a great $10 meal on the street and donated the rest to tsunami relief. (I've had some awesome meals in Thailand for about a buck.)

        It appears they did donate to charity:

        "Organizers say the event was designed to promote Thai tourism and that most of the profits will go to two charities — Medecins Sans Frontieres and the Chaipattana Foundation, a rural development program set up by the king of Thailand."

          I don't know about the chefs but the diners don't exactly wow me. They seem like culinary versions of the sorts of people who wear big, vulgar brand names on their clothing, like:

          <strong>MOSCHINO</strong>
